Disney Debuts First Plus-Size Main Character

This story was written and voiced by me and published at the KCSN Newsroom on October 28th , 2022.

Disney now has its first plus-size lead character in the short film, “Reflect.”

It tells the story of Bianca, a young ballerina who goes through struggles with being confident of her body type until she accepts and is happy with herself, since in her dance class her instructor and colleagues have a different figure, such as tight tummy and long neck.

The inspiration for the film was from its animation artist and director, Hillary Bradfield, due to her own issues with body positivity.

The audience reception for the trailer was divided between people who think this type of representation is important on the media and others who thinks it encourages kids to be overweight.

The short film is already available on Disney Plus.
